Unit-1-Objectives and policies of State Board schools (GSHSEB)

Gujarat

  • An industrial state -Gujarat Refinery, Nano- Sanand, Reliance, IPL, Ship building , TATA plant , textile industry ,Vapi and Ankleshwer –major industrial areas
  • A center of white revolution
  • Cattle riding –a major vacation pursued in north central Gujarat- Amul
  • A hub of commercial activities -Ahmadabad ,Surat – a diamond city , Rajkot
    Variety in geographical area
  • South central Gujarat- a home for tribal and rich in bio diversity
  • A place of many migrates from all states of the country
  • The longest sea cost in the country

• Fundamental schools

Fundamental schools

• Mainly located in tribal areas – outskirts , sea –cost or any other area of the state which
are undeveloped or under development
• Often referred to as ‘ Buniyadi shala’
• Aim is to provide basic education
• All subjects of general schools are taught , however subjects related to their surroundings are
also taught
• Subjects are Krushi Vidhya, Van Vidhya & Van Aushadhi, Vastra Vidhya, Yantra vidhya,
Home scienec, Dairy science and animal Husbandry
• Purpose is to bring children of such schools in main stream – provide them modern
education, but also allowing them to learn their own traditional knowledge and skills
• This will further keep them rooted in their own traditions-culture- stay connected with
their surroundings and able to get employment at domestic level.

Vocational schools – Technical schools
• Major aim is to develop technical know how and skills among such students who have
inclination for technical field and who are desirous of pursuing their careers in technical
field. They develop such skills prior to their joining of diploma and degree level courses in
engineering.
• Broader aim is to create a technical workforce for the industrial state
• General subjects + Technical subjects- elements of engineering, Computer aided
engineering drawing, Basics of engineering process, maintenance and safety

Vocational schools – Commerce schools
• Major aim is to provide educational opportunities to those students who have special
inclination for commerce field and who are desirous of pursuing their careers in commerce
field.
• Broader aim to create professionals who can trigger and accelerate commercial activities in
the state by sharpening their business skills and updating their knowledge

• General subjects+ Elements of Commerce , Elements of accounts, Commercial
correspondence and secretarial practices, computer

General schools
• Meant and open for all students
• Aim is to care of the needs of diverse learners
• Offers a range of subjects such as
• Gujarati, English, Hindi, Sanskrit, science and Technology , mathematics, Social studies,
• Any one from - Computer, Home science, Dairy science and animal Husbandry , elements
of engineering, Elements of Commerce
• Drawing, Music , tailoring & embroidery
• Health and Physical education
